Helvetesfallet

For those interested in impressive nature with flowing water and steep rock faces, Helvetesfallet is an excellent excursion destination.

Helvetesfallet literally translates as Fall of Hell. The river Ämån plunges down into the narrow gorge from the thirty-meter high rock walls. Especially during the spring flood, the forces of nature are so strong that the ground seems to tremble.

Take a good look around you when you visit helvetesfallet. Nestlings like to build their nests on ledges along the rock walls, but unusual and rare lichens, mosses and ferns can also be seen in abundance. Undoubtedly, this is a place not to be missed.

Storstupet

Storstupet literally means ‘the great abyss’. Here is an old railway bridge that was built in 1902. It is also a fantastic place for all photo enthusiasts. The canyoning mountain walls consist of red sandstone, reddish brown porphyry and gray black diabase. When the sun shines on it, it gives beautiful colors.
